Işık University (often written as Isik University) is a private foundation university located in Istanbul, Turkey. It was established in 1996 by the Feyziye Schools Foundation (FMV), an educational institution with a long and distinguished history dating back to 1885 with the founding of the Feyz-i Sıbyan School in Salonica. The name "Işık," meaning "light" in Turkish, was adopted in 1934 with the approval of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
